Have a New Years resolution to start traveling more? Here are 5 easy steps to start traveling right now! Be onto your next destination in just minutes.
The most important step to start traveling is saving every dime and penny you have! When you’re ready to start thinking about traveling more its incredibly important to start saving money immediately. You don’t need a goal amount yet, or even a destination. Figuring all of that out comes with time, and you already know you will need money so don’t waste any time on this step! The sooner you save money, the sooner you can start traveling!
This is one of the most fun steps of them all (Besides the actual traveling of course)! The second step to start traveling is to make a bucket list of all the places you want to visit. This list should include every place you want to visit before you die, this can be countries or cities or even specific monuments or museums. It’s so much fun to make this list! Plus, it’s really inspirational to think about all the things you want to accomplish, or visit in this instance!
Now that you have your bucket list, its time to narrow it down so that you can begin to plan a realistic trip! Try to pick out 10 places from your bucket list, just 10 places that stand out to you. They don’t necessarily have to be your top 10 places you want to visit the most, but the ones that make you feel the most excited about visiting at that moment.
The fourth step to start traveling is to decide the time frame you would like your trip to be in. This is a two fold step. The first part is deciding when during the year you would like to travel, you may want to keep in mind the places you have chosen, because seasons can be different there than in the country you currently live in. The second part of this step is deciding how long you want this trip to be, are you able to devote a whole month to it or just a week or so. This is going to be a little different if you want to go backpacking, which I will go into more detail about in a later post. Also, the more open you are on the time of year you wish to go it will be a lot easier to save money on things such as flights and accommodations.
The final step to start traveling is a little more difficult to do and may take some maneuvering on your part. You now need to decide if you want to make this trip one where you spend a shorter amount of time in a location but see many locations at once, or if you want to spend more time in a location and only see one or two places. This is all personal preference, it will depend on the amount of time you have selected and the amount of money you are willing to spend on your trip. If you decide to visit only one or two places on this trip then you can begin to start pricing out trips for each of your top 10 places and decide which fits your plans most. If you want to visit more places it is important to pick locations that are close to each other so that traveling from one location to the next is hassle free.
