Making Your New Years Resolutions Stick

We all make New Years resolutions, most are the cliche ones, but start out with the best of intentions. Unfortunately, around the third week of January we lose our steam and another year passes without meeting our goals. I have a very easy way to make sure that loss of steam doesn't happen to you this year. Here is my plan for making your New years resolutions stick| Espressolifestyle.com

My New Years Resolutions

  1. Lead a healthier lifestyle
  2. Grow closer to God
  3. Be more positive

How I will make them stick

This is the easiest, and most inspirational way I have found to make sure my resolutions last all year round! All of my resolutions are pretty broad goals, which means I need to decide on smaller, actionable goals that I can achieve on a monthly basis so I feel like I am moving forward.

Making actionable goals

Now that I have my broad goals its time to make 12 smaller goals for each one. So, here are some examples of smaller goals I have set for myself.

  1. Lead a healthier lifestyle
    • 25 day cleanse
    • Take a kick-boxing class
    • Take a yoga class
  2. Grow closer to God
    • 21 day fast
    • Daily devotional
    • Go on a mission trip
  3. Be more positive
    • Start a bullet journal
    • Use my happiness planner
    • Give someone a complement everyday

Use your planner!

I am using the goals section in my planner, on my month view page, to write the specific goal I want to focus on for that month. The beauty of this system is you get to feel like you’re moving towards your overall goal every month instead of possibly reaching it at the end of the year. For example, most of us have a fitness goal for the year. If you have a specific amount of weight you want to lose by the end of the year you could divide it by 12 and have that amount be your monthly goal to lose. This will keep you SO much more motivated! You can also adjust your goals month to month this way, if you find areas you seem to need more work on then you can make that your goal for the next month.
