New Year, New You! I have compiled a list of books you need to be reading in 2017. Each of them will be a huge asset to you in this new year.
Talking As Fast As I Can- Lauren Graham
It’s no secret I am a huge Gilmore Girls fan, and this book made me love Lauren Graham (Lorelei Gilmore) even more! It is filled with stories from her life, being on the set of Gilmore Girls, and what it was like returning to the role after so many years. There are so many hilarious stories it is a must read for 2017! You can order the book here:
#GirlBoss- Sophia Amoruso
This book has become a cult favorite over the past year, and I fully support that movement! This book is so incredibly inspiring, it made me want to immediately go out and start my own business, or at least push forward towards whatever goal I wanted! Sophia Amoruso is the founder of Nasty Gal, and it truly was a rags to riches story and she has built a huge empire all from doing something she genuinely loves. You can order the book here:
The Happiness Project- Gretchen Rubin
This is the perfect book for January. Gretchen Ruben spends an entire year trying to make herself happier, kind of a huge list of New Years resolutions. Everything from being a better friend, improving work quality, being a more attentive wife, and pursuing her passions. Such a great way to get in the correct mindset you will need to make your current resolutions stick! You can order the book here:
Adulting- Kelly Williams Brown
This is sort of a gag book, but theres actually some pretty good advice and tips in it! It is a hilarious book with Kelly’s 468 steps on how to become a grown-up. There are directions on how to cook basic things, how to use/get a credit card, even how to dress appropriately for work. If you’re in that awkward semi-adult stage this is a great book choice for you! Good tips with a lot of humor mixed in! You can order the book here:
The Happiness Planner
This isn’t exactly a book, more of a planner! I highly recommend this brand, the entire planner is set up in a way to make sure you reach your goals and become happier and happier each week! You can track your meals, goals, To-Do’s, schedule notes and ideas for the day, it even has spots to put inspiring thoughts and good things about the day. Plus, they’re super cute! You can purchase them HERE.
I know these won’t apply to everyone, but I know a lot of people who have decided to make growing closer with God one of their resolutions, if this doesn’t apply to you just skip ahead!
Becoming A Woman of Beauty and Strength- Elizabeth George
This is a very small book that is a bible study of Esther. I really enjoyed this book, it is very short and easy to following along with but still provides great information. You can order the book here:
The Women’s Devotional Guide to the Bible- Jean Syswerda
I absolutely adore how this bible study is set up! It is by far my favorite study I have ever used, it is perfect for anyone who has a busy schedule but still wants to fit in some study time. It breaks it up into different tasks each day so you can digest it easier. Monday- overview and summary to help you understand the passage. Tuesday- background info on the passage. Wednesday- short bible study. Thursday- let’s you apply the passage to your own life. Friday- pray based on the passage. This is a 52-week bible study. You can order the book here:
Savor- Shauna Nieguist
This is my favorite book out of the three mentioned here. Savor is a 365 daily devotional, it is described to help with “living abundantly where you are, as you are.” It includes short personal stories from her life and what she learned from them and then provides a guide on what to pray about for the given night. It also includes a few recipes of food she enjoys cooking when she hosts bible study at her house. I have found every days focus to be very suited to my own life as well, really allowing me to tailor it to my current situations. You can order the book here:
